Add CatalogBadge to your Pinterest catalog

Pinterest shopping ads read products from a catalog in Pinterest Ads. Add our Pinterest feed as that catalog’s data source and your product pins show branded images in Pinterest’s tall 2:3 shape. You work in your own Pinterest account; we never have access to it.

1. Turn on the 2:3 size

Pinterest asks for images of at least 1000 by 1500 pixels and refuses busy images packed with text. In CatalogBadge, open your store’s Rules, then Sizes and language, and turn on 2:3. Each product gets a 1080 by 1620 image drawn from a lighter version of your template. Until you turn it on, the Pinterest file carries your own product photos.

2. Your Pinterest feed URL

The store’s Overview page lists your pinterest-full.xml URL (and its CSV twin) with the other feeds. Treat it like a password. It is a full feed: every active product Pinterest accepts, with every other field of your feed passed through.

3. Add it in Pinterest Ads

  1. In Pinterest Ads open Catalogs and choose to add a data source.
  2. Paste your pinterest-full.xml URL, fill in the details Pinterest asks for, such as your feed’s currency, and save.
  3. Pinterest fetches the file once a day from then on.

Pinterest’s guides: how data sources are read and the data source specification.

Which products are in the Pinterest file

  • A product goes in only when Pinterest will take it: its seven required fields, a price that is not zero, and stock as in stock, out of stock or preorder. The rest stay in your other feeds.
  • A product whose 2:3 image is not ready, for example right after a price change, carries your own photo until it is. It never carries another size’s image or an old price.
Pinterest’s own supplementary feeds only translate a main feed, so our Pinterest file is always the catalog’s main source. If an app fills your Pinterest catalog today, write to hello@catalogbadge.com before you switch it.

Items still show the old image

  • Pinterest has not fetched since the change. It reads the file once a day.
  • The 2:3 size is off. Without it, pins carry your own photo.
  • The new image is not drawn yet. The pin shows your photo until it exists.

Every file we publish is in output feeds, and sizes are explained in images.
