WooCommerce to Snapchat: branded catalog ad images

WooCommerce stores get branded Snapchat catalog ad images by giving CatalogBadge the URL of their feed plugin and replacing the scheduled feed URL of their Snapchat catalog with our snap-full.xml. Every field of the plugin’s file passes through. CatalogBadge plans start at $49 a month in US dollars, and your feeds carry your own photos until a plan or free trial is active.

Step 1: get your product feed from WooCommerce

  1. WooCommerce has no product feed of its own, so install a feed plugin such as Product Feed PRO or CTX Feed from Plugins, then Add New.
  2. Create a feed in Google Shopping or Facebook format, XML or CSV, with each product’s id, title, price, sale price, availability, link, image and brand.
  3. Set the plugin to refresh the file hourly or daily, then copy its URL, usually under /wp-content/uploads/ on your domain.

A CSV export may call the price regular_price and stock instock or outofstock. Tell us which column is which in the Column map; a wrong guess could put a wrong price on an image, so we never guess.

Step 2: add the feed to CatalogBadge

Create your account, choose Onboard a store and paste the feed URL. The wizard shows sample products with their prices before anything is saved, then you pick your designs, check them in the preview and go live. Create your account

The WooCommerce setup guide has every screen of the wizard.

Step 3: put snap-full.xml into Snapchat

Which file you paste depends on how your Snapchat catalog gets products today:

In Snapchat

  1. In Snapchat Ads Manager, open Catalogs and choose the catalog your dynamic ads use.
  2. Open its product source and choose a scheduled feed URL.
  3. Paste your snap-full.xml URL, in place of the URL it reads today if it has one.
  4. Pick the most frequent schedule Snapchat offers and save. To undo, paste the old URL back.

The image Snapchat gets

A fixture product drawn by CatalogBadge at the ratio Snapchat reads

Snapchat gets the 1:1 image. Our file carries every field of your feed unchanged apart from the image links, so titles, prices and product sets stay as they were. Snapchat has no supplementary feed, which is why it always takes the full file.

Watch out

Snapchat reads whatever columns the plugin wrote, including any you added for other channels, so keep the plugin’s file clean of test products: our file passes them through just as it passes your real ones.

Check that it worked

  • The Overview page shows when Snapchat last fetched snap-full.xml.
  • In Ads Manager, the catalog shows its last upload and any errors.
  • A branded product’s image address starts with https://img.catalogbadge.com/.

Questions

Does Snapchat need a separate plugin feed?

No. One plugin feed is enough; CatalogBadge writes a Snapchat file from the same source as the Meta one.

My plugin writes the feed only once a day. Is that enough?

Your images can only be as fresh as the file we read. Set the plugin to hourly if it allows; we check your feed on every sync and draw only what changed.
