Chrome extension privacy policy

This policy covers the CatalogBadge “Catalog ad preview” extension for Chrome, operated by The Growth Folks. For our website and the CatalogBadge service, see our privacy policy.

What the extension reads

Nothing, until you click its button. When you do, it reads the product page open in that tab, once, to find the product’s title, brand, price, sale price, currency, availability and photo address. It does not read other tabs, your browsing history, form fields or cookies, and it does not run in the background.

What it sends, and when

Only when you click Preview, it sends to our server at app.catalogbadge.com:

  • the product details above, after any edits you made;
  • the address of the product page and the store platform it detected;
  • the languages and image size you asked for;
  • whether you edited the details it found;
  • a random install id the extension creates on first use, used only to count previews against the daily limit.

What we keep

  • The preview images, and the product photo we fetch to draw them, for one day. The photo is deleted as soon as the images exist.
  • Counters for the rate limits, keyed by a one-way hash of your install id and of your IP address, never the values themselves. They expire at the end of the hour or day they count and are then deleted.
  • Daily totals of previews by store platform and language, and of how often details were edited. These hold no page address, product or personal data.

We do not keep the product page address, the product details or your IP address, and we do not write them to our logs. We do not sell or share anything the extension sends.

No account, no tracking

The extension needs no account and contains no analytics or advertising code. Its only permissions are access to the tab you click it on, the ability to run its reader there, and storage for the install id.

Your choices

Remove the extension at any time from Chrome’s extensions page; that deletes its install id. For any question or deletion request, write to hello@catalogbadge.com.
